Data transparency

How we verify every bank and wallet

AI can give an answer, but rarely an accountable source. This page explains where kaikahu's data comes from, how often we verify it, and how we tag the single most mis-answered, highest-trust question: can a foreigner or non-resident actually open this account.

What we cover

kaikahu is a bilingual (Chinese / English) comparison platform for cross-border account opening and e-wallets, covering 510+ banks and 114+ e-wallets across 100+ countries and regions. Our focus is not aggregating information, but owning the niche most generic AI gets wrong and users dare not trust blindly: whether and how a foreigner or non-resident can open an account.

Where the data comes from

  • Each bank's and e-wallet's official website (requirements, fee schedules, eligibility pages).
  • Public regulatory disclosures and compliance announcements.
  • Front-line practice feedback (branch interpretation, approval strictness, document details).

All key fields are compiled by editors and treated against official pages as the final authority. We do not fill tables with unverified hearsay.

How often we verify

  • Data baseline: October 2026 — all site fields compiled and finalized by the editorial team.
  • Rolling review — high-churn fields (opening offers, non-resident policies, fees / thresholds) are kept continuously updated.
  • Weekly automated freshness check — the site flags data freshness and triggers manual review on clearly stale entries.

Financial rules change extremely fast. Each detail page shows a "data baseline" month at the top — always re-confirm with the official latest policy before applying.

How we tag "foreigner / non-resident eligibility"

This is our most core, anti-hallucination tagging dimension. We distinguish three states:

  • Non-residents OK — public policy allows opening without local permanent residency / citizenship (usually in person or under specific conditions).
  • Conditional — only certain visa / permit / tax-resident holders; assessed case by case.
  • Not open to non-residents — local residents only; foreigners cannot open through normal channels.

Important: the same bank can differ across countries / regions, even across branches in one city, in how it treats non-residents. Our tags reflect public policy and common practice; the branch you actually apply at has the final say.

Disclaimer

  • kaikahu does not collect fees, does not broker, and does not guarantee any account approval — the decision rests entirely with the institution.
  • Content is for information only and is not financial, legal, or tax advice.
  • Offers change frequently by region and quarter; amounts and terms follow the bank's official promo page.
  • E-wallets are not banks; balances are usually not deposit-insured — diversify as needed.
